Artisanal cheese since 1981
Cheeses from the Ruurhoeve are made on our farm with daily fresh milk. Already several times the Ruurhoeve won prizes at the national cheese inspection. A reward for our cheesemakers’ years of dedication!
To give cheese a specific flavor, herbs and spices are sometimes used during preparation, such as fenugreek, cumin, mustard, chives, garlic onion, tomatoes, lavender, truffle and pepper.
Dutch Trappist cheese from Koningshoeven Abbey in Berkel-Enschot is also made at the Ruurhoeve. A delicious cheese with the fine notes of beer that does very well on the cocktail board.
The best quality
Our cows
Our cows are mainly black-pied Holstein-Friesian cows. In recent years we have also added a number of red-pied Holstein cows to the herd and Belgian blue cows.
Family Herd
At de Ruurhoeve, the so-called “family herd” has been the common form of raising calves since 2011. This means that calves stay with their mothers until weaning age.
Experience
As a generational company, Erica & Corné have experience in making cheese. Following ancient traditions with care for nature and animals, you can purely enjoy the land here.
Cheese from the farm
Artisan cheese is cheese that is truly made on the farm from pasteurized milk. We are one of the farming families who, among other things, have specialized in processing their cows’ milk into artisanal cheese themselves.
The artisanal preparation is what makes the taste of our cheese so rich, powerful and unique. After all, all the flavor characteristics of the milk are retained. Much of the preparation is by hand.
When you talk about key words that apply very specifically to artisan cheese, they are genuineness, craftsmanship, authenticity, tradition, taste and pure enjoyment.
Product Range
On our farm, cow’s milk is processed into type Gouda cheese.
To give cheese a specific flavor, herbs and spices are sometimes used during preparation on our farm. We also have a special cheese, which is Trappist cheese.
